Working with Luxembourg

Our main purpose is to represent the UK government, and to promote UK interests in Luxembourg. Lobbying Luxembourg's government on EU policy issues and reporting their views is the Embassy's biggest single task.

Encouraging companies to invest in the UK, and encouraging trade between the UK and the Belgian and Luxembourg markets, is the main task of the trade and investment team, shared by the Embassies here and in Brussels.

The consular team provides notarial and other services for the British community in Luxembourg, including for example registration of births.  They can also help British travellers in trouble; for example issuing visitors who've lost their passports with an emergency one to get them back to the UK.

The Embassy also has a press and public affairs attaché, who can provide information about the UK (particularly education in the UK), and is responsible for cultural issues and for liaison with the British Council in Brussels.
