Disabled access
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the British Embassy in Luxembourg are keen to ensure that their buildings and services are fully accessible to disabled members of the public.
General physical access
- Entrance through the Embassy main gate is quite wide and easily wide enough for wheel chair access
- Access to the front door of the Embassy is via steps. A stair-lift (suitable for wheelchairs) allows disabled access from street level into the Embassy's reception area. Our staff will be happy to help operate the lift. If possible, please telephone before your visit so that they can be prepared. Mobile ramps are available, stored near main entrance lobby.
- Public access areas are all on the same floor.
- Toilets are not available for the general public.
- Parking spaces are not available on the Embassy premises although there is local parking in adjacent streets.
- All floor coverings are safe and even.
- Handrails are available on the stairs into the embassy. The lobby and the reception areas are relatively small.
- Disabled people and wheelchair users might require help opening some of the doors.
- Lighting is good throughout the building.
- Emergency/evacuation processes caters for ALL visitors.
- Phones are easily accessible.
Access for visually-impaired visitors
- Signs are clear, easy to read, and use internationally-recognisable symbols.
- Guide dogs are welcome.
Access for deaf or hard-of-hearing visitors
- Hearing loops are not installed.
- Minicom and text phones are not installed.
- Hearing dogs are welcome.

Access to the Ambassador's Residence in Luxembourg
If you are coming to the Ambassador's Residence (16 Boulevard Roosevelt), a stair-lift from the ground floor takes you to the public rooms on the first floor. This lift is not suitable for wheelchairs.
If you use a wheelchair, you may need assistance moving from your chair onto the lift seat, and then back onto your chair. Our staff will be happy to help. If possible, please telephone (+352) 22 98 64 before your visit so that they can be prepared.
